Portugal To Attract UK Buyers At Overseas Property Show
Portugal is to be highlighted to UK overseas buyers at a forthcoming property exhibition taking place in September at the NEC Birmingham in the UK. The popular international property exhibition “A Place in the Sun Live” will showcase Portugal with new Portuguese Pavilion.
The organisers of A Place in the Sun Live have signed an exclusive deal with the Portuguese UK Chamber of Commerce to create a Portuguese Pavilion for its members at October’s show.
A Place in the Sun Live, the UK’s only dedicated consumer overseas property exhibition, is taking place at Birmingham’s NEC from 2nd – 4th October. Portugal is one of the most sought after destinations for UK buyers looking for properties overseas, and this is the first year the country has been given a dedicated focus at the show.
According to the Portuguese UK Chamber of Commerce, the popularity of the country with UK visitors has soared over the past three years, from 1.94 million in 2006 to over 2.5 million in 2008.
“The balmy year-round climate, unspoilt beaches and world-class golf have maintained the Algarve’s popularity as a favourite second home destination with Brits, even throughout the current economic downturn. And interest is now spreading to the Silver Coast, north of Lisbon, where a number of eco-friendly low-density developments overlooking the sweeping Atlantic beaches and close to cosy traditional towns are proving popular. So it’s a great time for the exhibition to put a spotlight on Portugal,” said A Place in the Sun editor Richard Way.
The Portuguese mini show-within-a-show will feature seminars where visitors will be able to learn about Portugal and hear from property developers and agents. Topics will cover buying in Portugal, a showcase of the country’s regions and what they have to offer, plus the full low-down on investment opportunities.
The developments will further enhance the attraction of A Place in the Sun Live for visitors: 7,524 visitors attended the last A Place in the Sun Live exhibition at the NEC Birmingham in September 2008, while the most recent exhibition at Earls Court, London in April attracted 9,062 visitors.
